Coffee with a Friend

Cup of coffee, anyone?  I finally had a chance to play with the new bundle “Coffee Cafe” and coordinating Designer Series Paper called “Coffee Break.”  I used a panel of the designer paper that resembles coffee rings – isn’t it great? –  and mounted that on a card base of Crumb Cake.

The Stampin’ Details:  I stamped a Chocolate Chip cup and cut it out using my Big Shot and the Coffee Cup Framelit Dies. I used a Powder Pink ink pad to stamp a straw and a coffee lid, then cut them out using the corresponding dies.  Finally I stamped a smaller square and the awesome sentiment in Chocolate Chip and cut those out using my Big Shot.  Pink coffee rings Mary Hanson Up North Stampin'

By hand, I cut a Delicate White Doily in half and mounted it at an angle on the card base.  I then began to assemble the cup, ‘popping’ the cup up using some Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I finished the card off with two Glimmer Enamel Dots and wow!!  A quick and easy card.

You simply MUST try this Stampin’ Up! Bundle.  The possibilities with it are truly endless — you could make friendship cards, thank you cards, birthday cards, or a number of fun projects.  Don’t be without this set.  Simply Click on the “Shopping” button above, and you can start having fun with one of our favorite things — COFFEE!!

Pals Blog Hop: Pick a “B”

2017badge-peachWelcome to the June 2017 Pals Blog Hop. Thank you so much for joining us today. This month’s theme, Pick a “B,” features projects inspired by Babies, Birthdays and Brides to name few. You may just get a glimpse of new catalog products while you hop with us today.

Whether you’re just starting the hop, or have come from a previous Pal’s blog, you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.

My card contains a couple of “B’s,” if you haven’t guessed it already.  I actually chose the BLUE vase as my “B,” but my husband said adjectives don’t count (haha!).  However, I knew I had a back-up plan with the “B” in BIRTHDAY!

Tranquil Tulips Blue Patterned Vase Mary Hanson Up North Stampin'

I combined the photopolymer Host stamp set called “Tranquil Tulips” (#143767) with the “Jar of Love” photopolymer stamp set (#141587)  and Everyday Jars Framelits (#141490) to create this card.  Using my Big Shot, I cut out the jar shape from the framelits using the Pool Party patterned sheet from the Coffee Break Designer Series Paper Stack (#144155).  I also cut a 1 1/4″ by 4″ strip from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack (#144177) to create a ‘table’ surface.  I adhered that strip to a 5 1/4″ by 4″ Whisper White card panel.  I guess-timated where my blue paper vase would be adhered in order to stamp a bouquet of tulips that would fit into the vase.  I used Calypso Coral, Berry Burst, Melon Mambo, and Peekaboo Peach ink pads, and created a lighter shade for the base of each tulip by stamping off once before stamping the flower onto the white panel.  The second stamp of the two-stamp process uses the coordinating full-strength ink.  I then used Pear Pizazz ink to add stems and leaves to my bouquet.

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up my vase onto the card front.  I tried to create a ‘raffia’ look for the natural bow on the vase by taking a few inches of Burlap Ribbon and peeling the ribbon into strips.  I then put the strips together to make a bow and adhered it to the vase with a glue dot.  The sentiment is from the “Balloon Celebration” stamp set (#140675). I used Berry Burst ink on Whisper White card stock, and then punched a banner using the Triple Banner Punch, one of my go-to’s!  The Whisper White front panel was adhered using some SNAIL to a Peekaboo Peach card base.

Tranquil Tulip Blue Cup Close Up

To add some dimension, I re-stamped two tulip top stamps in Calypso Coral, cut them out with my snips and popped them up with a dimensional.  This helped create balance to the already popped-up vase!  The card is finished off with some Glitter Enamel Dots in Old Olive to add some sparkle and whimsy!  I had SO much fun creating my “B” card.  I hope you give this lovely new Host Set a try.  The shading is so artistic and pretty!  Remember, this Host Set can be yours for only $10.00 when you order at least $150 in Stampin’ Up! product, OR if you host an event, and the event orders total over $150.  Easy!

It’s time to get your hands on these beautiful products, and all the other wonderful new items in the 2017-18 Annual SU! Catalog!  Use the “Shopping” Button above to go to my site and start the shopping fun!  Please let me know if I can be of any assistance as you order!

I Love a New Challenge!

tttc-challenge-board-001Especially when the challenge is SO fun!  I am playing the Tic Tac Toe Challenge this week with a great team of designers.  The idea is to choose a row, either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally, and design a project using all the elements in that row.

I chose the top row going across, so my elements were stripes, a circle, and gold!  What fun!  Here is the card I created:

Sending Love and Coffee 2

I chose a brand new Stampin’ Up bundle, the photopolymer Coffee Cafe Bundle (145331), which includes the Coffee Cafe Stamp Set, and the Coffee Cups Framelits Dies.  I used the striped paper from the Coffee Break Designer Series Paper (#144155) to add to my Whisper White card base (11″ by 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″).  Using my Big Shot, I cut out a coffee cup using another pattern from the Coffee Break DSP — love every one of these papers!  On Whisper White card stock, I stamped the whipping cream, a straw, and the cup lid on Whisper White card stock using Chocolate Chip ink, then cut the lid to make just a border for the top of the cup.  I adhered all the cup elements to the card base using SNAIL, and then stamped some coffee beans in Chocolate Chip as well.

I stamped a sentiment from the Ribbon of Courage stamp set (#143855 rubber mount) onto a scrap of Pool Party card stock in Chocolate Chip ink.  I unwrapped another new SU! product — the Starburst Punch (#143717) and punched out the sentiment “Sending Love and Hugs to You.”  I also punched a circle out of the wood grain paper from the Coffee Break DSP as a backing to the Pool Party circle — I thought it added some pop!

Close Up Sending Love and Coffee

I then looped adhered gold baker’s twine to the back of the sentiment circles and popped them up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Lastly I added two Glitter Enamel Dots (#144200) in Old Olive toward the top of the card.

This bundle is super fun, and I know I’m going to use it constantly!  Thanks for the opportunity to participate in this awesome challenge!  Let me know if you need any help getting this bundle into your hands.  Click on the Shop Now button above to get started!

A Retirement Reminder: Just Breathe!

Ever Sneaked a Peek at a Daisy?

I’ve been busy adding to my Wish List of products from the brand new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog, available to order June 1, just around the corner.  In the meantime, I have been playing with the products I was able to pre-order in May.  I predict one of the favorites will be the Delightful Daisy bundle, complete with punch and a lovely stamp set.  To add to the beautiful set, the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper is simply lovely, and could stand alone!  Gorgeous colors and designs!

My Sneak Peek card was given to my mom for Mother’s Day — she’s a flower lover, and I knew she’d adore these beautiful soft colors as well.

Daisies Coral For You Birthday Blooms Up North Stampin'

I stamped the top daisy twice, once in Calypso Coral, and once in Powder Pink. I then stamped again over the ink with Versamark, and then embossed with clear embossing powder.  The bottom daisy was stamped with Calypso Coral and So Saffron and then embossed.  I punched out all four daisies and assembled.  I added a sentiment, and adhered all to one of the Delightful Daisy DSP designs.  I added a new Gold Faceted Gem onto each daisy — they are very sparkly in person, and add just the right amount of bling!

I hope you’ve received your new catalog, and are making your own wish lists!  If you haven’t received yours yet, please let me know!  Watch for my upcoming newsletter with details about my Delightful Daisy classes.

Happy Stamping!

Pals Blog Hop — Spring!

2017badge-denimWelcome to the Pals Blog Hop for March 2017. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our 2017 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month we are featuring Spring or Spring related projects. We hope you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

Perhaps you remember these ‘diorama’ Easter eggs from your childhood, or maybe you still create them as one of your Easter traditions.

the-diorama

I LOVE Easter, and I love the nostalgic feeling of these eggs….like a time gone by.  Well, my goal with today’s blog card was to take the darling “Basket Bunch” Photopolymer Bundle, and create a similar ‘look’ but on a card instead.

basket-bunch-up-cupcakes-and-carousels-north-stampin-mary-hanson

To begin, I cut a very vanilla card base, 5 1/2″ by 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″.  I created a shaker card using a sheet of Cupcakes of Carousels Designer Series Paper, cut to 5 1/4″ by 4″.  I used the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies to cut an oval out of the DSP, and then created a scalloped border using Soft Sky.  I stamped some spring flowers onto the card base, and then filled the shaker card with white mica flakes from the SU! 2016 Holiday Catalog and a few blue sequins to add a little colored sparkle.  The flowers, leaves and the darling bunny and bird are all from the Basket Builder Framelit dies, cut out of Daffodil Delight and Soft Sky cardstock.  Of course, I wanted to add some ‘glimmer’ to the accents with the Wink of Stella pen.

Very Vanilla satin ribbon and Pearl accents finished off my version of a diorama egg quite nicely.

Pals “CASE the CATTY” Blog Hop

2017badge-denimWelcome to the Pals Blog Hop for February 2017. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our 2017 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month we are CASE’ing a project shown in a current Stampin’ Up! catalog. After all, with the Annual, Occasions and Sale-a-Bration catalogs available right now, there is much inspiration from which to choose. We hope you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

On the bottom of page 88 of the 2016-17 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog is a card that I have glanced at many times as I have made my way through the catalog!

screen-shot-2017-02-02-at-8-00-26-pm
When I finally took a closer look at it, I discovered that I really liked the layout and its interesting lines with a combination of textures.  SO — I re-vamped the card with a fresh new color combination using the “Cupcakes and Carousels” Designer Series Paper, found in the 2017 Occasions Catalog.  I LOVE every single paper in this double-sided 6″ by 6″ paper stack (#142744, $10.00).

142744

Delicious, huh?  To make my card, I started with a Very Vanilla card base, then covered the front entirely with a panel from the DSP pack, cut to 5 1/2″ by 4 1/4.”  I used the Banners Framelits (#132173, $27.00) to create a Chocolate Chip banner, and then a smaller banner cut from the DSP.  From there, I started layering the elements from the ‘bottom up,’ starting with one Delicate White Doily (141701, $3.00).  The sentiment is from the “Suite Sentiments” stamp set (#140712, $21.00 Clear Mount), stamped in Chocolate Chip ink.

close-up-suite-sayings-cupcakes-and-carousels-dsp-mary-hanson-up-north-stampin

Other elements that create interest include Gold Metallic Thread (138401, $3.00), a gold Metallic Foil Doily (#138392, $4.00), and a single large pearl from the Pearl Basic Jewels  (#119247, $5.00)

The wonderful thing about Cupcakes and Carousels Designer Series, AND this card, is that there are no wrong answers!  The colors blend beautifully no matter which ones you choose.  By substituting new colors for the prior black-and-white design, I have created an entirely new, fresh look from a classic layout!

I’m “Falling in Love!”

It’s been a busy few months, and I’m afraid my blog posts have suffered.  A huge project at school with my sophomores ended last Friday, January 27, with a celebration that took place at our local nursing home/assisted living center.  With that celebration our Life Story Project ended.

gus

Well, I’m back, and I’ve fallen in love with the Stampin’ Up! products in the new Occasions 2017 Catalog, including the  “Falling in Love” Suite.

bloomin-love-delicate-details-sealed-with-love-mary-hanson-up-north-stampin

I combined the Designer Series Paper from that suite with the beautiful intricate “Bloomin’ Heart” thinlits in the Annual Catalog, cut in Rose Red paper with a Crumb Cake heart slightly offset behind it.  The sentiment is also from the “Bloomin’ Heart” stamp set.  The lace border at the bottom is in Crumb Cake ink using a stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration catalog called “Delicate Details.”  I stamped the same lace stamp on Very Vanilla cardstock and cut out a flower from the “Bloomin’ Hearts” thinlits, mounting it with a dimensional.  A bit of Very Vanilla ribbon sets off that pretty lace.  Together, these elements create a soft, lacy, and very romantic Valentine!

Star of Light Really Shines!

This card is made with Stampin’ Up!’s Holiday Fancy Foil Designer Vellum in silver.  The gold version of this beautiful paper is on sale on in the Clearance Rack at Stampinup.com. You could easily replicate this layout in gold as well.  The Star of Light bundle is one of my all-time favorites for the holidays.  I know I will be using it for days to come!  I used silver foil paper and finished with a rhinestone to add even more shine and sparkle.  I like the striped paper set on a diagonal — do you?star-of-light-fancy-foil-silver
